Honoring the Past. Empowering the Future.

Deep Greenwood Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit committed to empowering Greenwood descendants. We support genealogy research for certified and verified descendants, advocate for historical preservation, and work to improve housing, education, arts, employment, entrepreneurship, and community sustainability.

Rooted in service

  • We work with community leaders to shape reparations policy, verify descendant lineage, and lead public discussions about Greenwood’s future.

  • We invest in the next generation through programs that teach Greenwood’s history, build literacy in math, finance/reading, and promote civic engagement.

  • We protect Greenwood’s legacy by preserving its historic sites. Through training, funding, and partnerships, we support restoration efforts that honor the past and invest in the future.

  • Our endowment secures the future of Black-owned historic properties in Greenwood by providing lasting financial support, strengthening community organizations, and keeping the legacy in the hands of its rightful community.

“Greenwood didn’t happen because we were included, Greenwood happened because we were excluded.” - Heather N. Nash
